Pre-pregnancy! Today (10/3/11)!

REAL PEOPLE ROCK: the megan in knoxville (who is preggers with twins) edition!

Meet Megan. Today she is 30 weeks pregnant with twins! But for the past many years, Megan has been running, running and running some more! When she’s not carrying two mini people around, she’s check off some serious running accomplishments from her bucket list! And I’m sure she’ll be back in action (with a double running stroller) before you can say double diaper change! For so many reasons, Megan is an MYB hero!

1. Where do you live?

Knoxville, TN

2. What’s your favorite way to Move Your Booty?

Running, yoga and running

3. What’s your greatest MYB accomplishment so far?

Qualifying for the Boston Marathon at the California International Marathon in 2007. The early morning tempo runs and the 20 milers in the San Francisco hills all paid off. I dug deep in the final miles and kept up the pace. I averaged 8.19/mile to run 3:38, easily the fittest I’ve ever been.

4. What’s your current MYB goal?

Get back to running! At this point I’m 30 weeks pregnant with twins and I’m unable to run. I’ve been swimming a bit (with floaties! I’m a terrible swimmer) and getting back to running is my key goal. In the long term, I’d like to return to the site of my first marathon, the NYC marathon. Another goal is to teach my kids how fun running is through example, and of course, kids races!

5. What’s your favorite workout song/pump up jam?

I have a sentimental attachment to the songs that were popular when I started my serious distance running in college - Come On Over Baby stands out the most.

6. Whats the one piece of workout clothing, equipment or accessory you could NOT live without?

Running visor. Keeps the sun out of my face and the hair wisps out of my eyes. Once the babes arrive I’m guessing this answer will change to my double jog stroller.

7. What motivates you?

The amazing feeling of being free. Feeling strong and like I can do anything. Keeping my weight down. People in my office saying - you’ve run HOW MANY marathons?!

8. If you could share one workout secret with the world, what would it be?

Can I share a couple? Negative split tempo runs! Over 6 miles, drop 8 seconds/mile each mile. Start at a pace just above lactate threshold. Run in the morning! And eat 1/2 a banana before running.

*9. (extra credit): What’s your workout style? Aka SWEATstyle.

Black capri leggings (lulu). I feel so free in leggings! I’ll wear them as early in the fall and as late into the spring as I can.

REAL PEOPLE ROCK is a series all about featuring hardworking, real life people like you and me who are out there every day giving life their best shot. And to me, that is inspiration at its finest.
