MOTIVATION: cycling blind!

Cycling class. No big deal, right? First time. Whatever. If you can ride a bike you can SouleCycle, right? Wrong. Way wrong. I was intimidated by this cycling class and I was right to be. Because it kicks your ass. But in the best of ways. And being a first timer was a pleasure. They were welcoming and helpful. From the locker rooms to the bike setup, they were perfect hosts. And then the lights went down in the moody candle-lit room and the music started to pump. One-two, one-two, one-two. I had no idea what would come next from minute to minute. So you have no choice but to zone in and keep your head in the game the whole time. And this was unlike any old cycling class I’d taken before. Not only was I cycling for my life but I was balancing up and down, hardly ever sitting, doing crunches, lifting weights, push-ups…and all the while I was locked into pedals going a million miles an hour. KILLER workout!! And there’s this awesome team mentality to it as well. The room was a team. I think it has something to do with dimming the lights. Without our own personal reflections, we are one. And while the unique feeling of being new and not knowing what was coming won’t happen again, I’m absolutely hungry for more. Because they named it appropriately. It takes not just strength, but SOUL. Cheesy, maybe. But true.

Thanks Brigitte for getting me there and cycling next to me in the back row. :) Next week! Who’s in?? High-res
