dailyMYB: TEARS OF SWEAT.
We’ve all been there. Maybe it’s a fitness babe thing, but I’m guessing it’s hit a couple dudes along the way. You’re in a dark cycling class and it’s 45 minutes into the 50 minute set. You’re pushing way past your comfort zone and just when your mind can’t push your body through one more pedal, your gut releases that extra supply of courage and your legs speed up again. Meanwhile your instructor is yelling motivational quotes in the air and while during minutes 1 - 44 you weren’t really feeling it, all of a sudden the words are speaking directly to you and only you. It’s like the instructor knows exactly what kind of tough day, rough week or challenging month you’ve had and is personally talking directly at you. As your legs speed through and your heart is about to explode out of your chest and your last bits of energy are sweating out of every pore, it hits you: “WTF am I crying?!”
It’s not always a weeping sad cry. It’s more of a moist eye release — in technical terms. But in non-technical terms, it’s all that BS we keep deep down inside coming out. It’s all that crap we stress over and the anxiety was obsess over exiting the body. When we sweat and workout, we don’t just release toxins and energy — emotions are wrapped up in that, too. Whether it’s at the end of a yoga class on a heavy day, during a tough workout class you barely survived or a long run you push yourself through to reach your maximum mileage, sometimes your insides need to sweat it out too. And that’s what we call “tears of sweat.” Let it all out!

I do believe that when we face challenges in life that are far beyond our own power, it’s an opportunity to build on our faith, inner strength, and courage. I’ve learned that how we face challenges plays a big role in the outcome of them.

“In May, doctors told us he would also need bypass surgery as well as spinal surgery before we could do the transplant. And that… is when I started to go to Soul. I hated working out, hated gyms and thought I would hate Soul. To my surprise, however, SoulCycle has given me hope again. Hope in “exercise” because I now know it doesn’t have to be torture. But mainly hope in my future. I know I’m strong mentally, but I am becoming strong physically also and I never thought it was possible! I try to attend classes 4 times a week for two reasons: 1) I need my body to be in the best shape it ever has been before we eventually have the transplant and 2) Soul is my only time to be selfish. I walk through those doors and the next 45minutes to 1 hour is my time to release the day, focus my body and mind, and become who I want to be…  A woman strong enough to deal with whatever life hands me. I ride for him… but I’m building MY soul.”

You are not your mind, your emotions or the circumstances of your life. You are the peaceful observer of your mind and emotions that allows life circumstances to pass through and around you for your evolution to finally come to a place of total acceptance of all that is. Only the peaceful observer remains after all else fades away. Only the peaceful observer in total acceptance of what is can take action towards effectively changing anything. You are only this peaceful observer - everything else is as fleeting as the blink of an eye, choose happiness and don’t buy into it.

FIT IS THE NEW SKINNY.

Bodies aren’t to be wasted. Bodies aren’t to be whittled away until they barely exist. Bodies are meant to be USED. Muscles are meant to be FLEXED. FIT is the new skinny. Fit makes you toned, tight and strong. FIT makes you able. Skinny don’t stand a chance. Muscles make curves that don’t quit. Use those muscles and they get strong, lean and tight. Feed those muscles and they’ll work for you. Take those muscles out to play every day and they’ll sleep better at night. Test your legs, push your arms, stretch your core. Daily. And then do it again. Focus on FIT and everything else is streamlined. Your food, your fuel, the way you see yourself, the way you feel about how much you weigh, what you look like, how energized you are. Everything else falls into place. Because you’re not fighting against your body to be, do or look like something it’s not. Instead, you’re USING your body to its best potential. And it shows. Don’t chase “skinny.” Because “skinny” doesn’t exist. Chase FIT. FIT you can catch.

MOTIVATION: strength.
Strength is a muscle thing. But it’s more than that. It’s also a mental thing. It’s a mood thing. It’s a strength in numbers thing. It’s a stay strong thing. It’s an endurance, you can do it thing. It’s an inside out thing. It’s a keep your head in the game thing. It’s a stick to it, even when you fall down and have to get back up thing. It’s a just do one more mile, one more rep, one more sprint thing. It’s a wake up before the sun thing. It’s an in your head thing. It’s an everywhere thing.
Be strong. Inside and out. And have a strong day.
