“I don’t have time.”
“Work is really busy.”
“The gym is really far away.”
“It’s too cold to run outside.”
“I’m intimidated by yoga studios.”
“Workout classes are too expensive.”
“I can’t afford a personal trainer.”
“I need a plan, but I just haven’t found the right one.”
These are one of the many reasons we all don’t workout regularly. Sure, they’re “excuses,” but they’re REAL. They’re honest reasons that keep us from getting to the gym, committing to a regular workout and really enjoying it. But why wait for the right opportunity or workout or instructor to come to YOU when you could bring YOUR favorite workout to you—anytime, anywhere! And maybe even for free…
Below are a few FREE workouts you can do even if you’ve only got a few free minutes, even if you’re downright broke, even if you don’t belong to a gym, even if you only want to work out in the privacy of your own home in your undies!
1) Nike Training Club
This FREE app is your workout buddy whenever you need it, wherever you are and for as long or short or as hard or beginner as you want it. If you can’t make it to the gym and you want a quick abs blast, NTC. If you’re in a hotel gym and need a workout that doesn’t require much equipment — or any equipment at all — NTC. If you just don’t know exactly what to workout and how to work it out, NTC. It’s customizable, easy to use and inspiring. Trying it doesn’t cost you a thing. Get to it!
2) Your workout gurus are online. Find them! Dig into the Internet and I guarantee you that you’ll discover an entire YouTube channel of your favorite workout guru (or soon to be favorite) showing you how to do a workout right in your own home. Set up your computer, iPad or whatever to face the living room, grab your mat or hit the rug and get your workout on right then and there! I discovered these yoga YouTube videos over Thanksgiving.
3) The Power of PLANKING. There are a few easy moves that seriously get your heart racing. PLANKING is one of them. Literally one minute will get your sweating. Try it for 2 minutes. 4 minutes?! Try alternating minute planks (minute up, minute down, minute up…etc) for 5-10 minutes. Boom. Workout complete. You have time for that right?! Thought so.
The definition of a “workout” is WHATEVER you decide it is. Make your workouts work for you. If you can’t go to them, make them come to you. DIYworkouts are ready anywhere, anytime.
